With great success, the event in honor of International Women's Day with the theme “The Contribution of Women in Society, Science and the Arts” was held in the auditorium of the Science and Technology Museum, on Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at 6:30-9:00 p.m., The event was co-organized by the Science and Technology Museum, the Deputy Mayor for Volunteerism, Gender Equality, Integration of Immigrants of the Municipality of Patras and the Department of Cultural Education of Secondary Education of Achaia.
The event was opened by the Rector of the University of Patras, G. Panagiotakis, Professor and greeted by: I. Kouri-Vassilopoulou, Deputy Mayor of Volunteerism, Gender Equality, Integration of Immigrants of the Municipality of Patras, E. Vitoratos, Professor, Director of the STM of the UP, E. Pierri, Director of Secondary Education of Achaia and Representatives of authorities and women's associations. Speeches were heard by: Olga Karagiorgou, Ph.D. in History, School Counselor of Achaia "The Position of Women in the Northern Peloponnese before the Revolution of '21", Anny Asimaki-Dimakopoulou, Lecturer of the Department of Education and Social Work of the UP. “The evolution of the position of women in the University Hierarchy. Case study: University of Patras 1967-2007", Christos Koutsoukis, Head of Cultural Affairs of Secondary Education of Achaia "Women in Art".
The event ended with a concert with the theme "Cinema Paradise" by the excellent ensemble "A COMPANHIA ARTISTICA" and soprano Poly Nikolopoulou, who presented songs from Greek and foreign cinema in a very interesting way.
This was followed by a Reception and Guided Tour of the participants in the STM - Exhibition "Telecommunications in our lives" and the temporary Exhibition "La Bande dessinée: The French look at comics".
