Science & Technology Museum, University of Patras Campus, Greece
With great success was held at the Science and Technology Museum (STM) of the University of Patras, on Tuesday, February 25, 2020, the Introductory Event of the Health Education Network of Primary Schools of Achaia with the Science and Technology Museum "Social Media: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow". It was co-organized by the Science and Technology Museum and the Department of Health Education of Primary Education of Achaia. Participants were 180 students and teachers from the 1st, 9th, 10th, 24th, and 47th Primary Schools of Patras. The aim of the event was for students to approach social media from a different perspective, and to participate in experiential workshops.
The event began with a presentation, at the Museum auditorium, about social media in real life and on the Internet and how they have evolved. Then, with the cooperation of volunteer students of the STM, who acted as animators, six parallel experiential workshops were implemented at the Museum. The workshops raised concerns about the pros and cons of social media in real life and on the Internet and activated the critical thinking and creativity of students. The students and their animators worked on creating rules for safe and enjoyable social media for the future. To document the rules, each group used different means: painting, collage, riddles, poems, theatrical pantomime.
After the experiential workshops were completed, the groups presented the outcome of their work in the Museum auditorium and interacted with the audience.
