Health Education Network "Me and Others on the Internet"

The Thematic Network of Health Education is organized by the Department of Health Education of Primary Education of Achaia and the Science and Technology Museum. It will focus on the axes of privacy, confidentiality, and personal data on the Internet, the risks of their possible exploitation, policies-ways to protect them as well as the search for and use of information from the Internet, the risk of misinformation and ways to deal with it. It aims to bring students into greater contact with the Internet and its role in our daily lives, to understand the dangers of publishing personal data on the Internet and to get to know methods that make the use of social networking pages more secure, for students and teachers to work in a group and to feed them back through their own cooperation, but also through their contact with other students and teachers

Analytically:

• Regarding the section on personal data and their proper management, reference will be made to personal data and the risks that Internet users run from their unwise management (interception, privacy, confidentiality, etc.), as well as to good practices for maintaining control of personal data, both for teachers and their students.
• With regard to the use of information circulated on the Internet, the freedom and the possibilities for expression, as well as the huge amount of information available from it, the danger of misinformation from extracting unreliable (incomplete or false) information will be highlighted and described and techniques will be presented to avoid this problem, both on the part of adults and underage Internet users.

For the implementation of the objectives, the following indicative actions are planned.

(a) for teachers:

• Design of a joint work plan for the above-mentioned school units.
• Organization of training seminars for the presentation of good practices of the use of social networking pages in the educational process.
• Feedback meetings of the participants at regular intervals.

(b) for pupils:

• Form a team
• Collection of materials, printed and in electronic form, on the internet safety and educational programming.
• Experiential activities (theatrical, educational films, posters, comics)
• Meetings online for the exchange of the students' work produced.

The dissemination of the actions will be done by:

• Presentation in the school units with the participation of parents
• Posting on school websites
• Participation of schools in the International Internet Day as ambassadors
• Presentation of the network's educational work produced at an event at the Science and Technology Museum.

Within the framework of the network's actions, an Introductory Event with experiential actions is foreseen, as well as a final event for the presentation of the school’s works at the Science and Technology Museum.
