“Water, a good without borders: contributing to sustainability and quality of life”
Awarding schools in the Local Photography Competition
“Capturing the water systems of my country”.
The event which was dedicated to water, an important asset that supports sustainability and quality of life, was held on Sunday, May 28, 2023, at the Science and Technology Museum of the University of Patras, as part of the Celebration of the International Museum Day “Museums, sustainability and quality of life”, the schools that excelled in the Local Photo Competition “Capturing the water systems of my country” were awarded. The event was co-organized by the Science and Technology Museum, the Region of Western Greece and the Directorates of Primary and Secondary Education of Achaia-Environmental Education.
Students of all educational levels from Achaia participated in the competition. Members of the judging committee of the submitted photographs were:

The event “Water, a commodity without borders: contributing to sustainability and quality of life” was opened by the Choir of the Environmental Group of the sixth grade of the 62nd Primary School of Patras. Afterwards, greetings were heard by the Director of the STM, Professor Ioannis Iliopoulos, the Dean of the School of Natural Sciences, Professor George Papatheodorou, the Vice Regional Governor of Achaia, Mr. Charalambos Bonanos, the Vice-President of the Department of Geology, Professor Efthimios Sokos and the President of the Hydrogeology Committee of the Geological Society of Greece, Professor Eleni Zagana. This was followed by the speech “Sustainable Management of Water and Waste” by the President of the Hellenic Open University, Professor Ioannis Kalavrouziotis, and the presentation “Innovative actions of the STM for water” (competitions, museum kits, digital exhibition, etc.). The event ended with a reception, courtesy of the Region of Western Greece.
