An exhibition on "On the Horizons of Physics" was organized by the Science and Technology Museum in collaboration with the Directorate of Secondary Education of Achaia, the Laboratory Centers of Natural Sciences of Achaia & the Department of Cultural Affairs - and the French Institute of Patras, from April 28 to November 30, 2014.
The exhibition consisted of 15 posters presenting the latest research in physics in France. Designed and implemented by the Centre Science with the support of the French Ministry of Research, the French Association of Physics and the Association of Scientific, Technological and Industrial Cultural Centers of France (CCSTI). The aim of the exhibition was to present the importance of modern research in physics, to give young people a taste of science and to present some important topics to the public.
The visitor through the tour of its premises could get informed with the results of research and the latest achievements in the field of natural sciences, to mobilize his curiosity and to reflect on issues concerning the Universe, Physics and life, the Earth and its environment, Matter and Light and finally to get answers to basic questions that often concern our thinking such as: "Why does the sun shine?", "What is the history of the Universe?", "Why is it dark at night?", "How many satellites does it take to locate a GPS?", "What is a nanotube?", "How old is the Atlantic Ocean?", "Can a Library fit in the head of a pin?" and many other questions that were answered in a pleasant, direct and interactive way.
Within the framework of the exhibition, specially planned educational programs will be carried out for groups of students of Primary and Secondary Education.
