An event with the theme “The dynamic relationship between Archaeology and Society through the prism of geosciences” will take place at the Science and Technology Museum, on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at 6:30 p.m. It is co-organized by the Science and Technology Museum and the Departments of History and Archaeology and Geology of the University of Patras as a main event-opening of the homonymous exhibition that opened on November 10, 2022, and will end on February 15, 2023.
The event will feature talks by Dr. Jaime Almansa-Sánchez, Manager, Archaeology Hub-CSIC Institute of Heritage Sciences (INCIPIT-CSIC) on “Managing archaeological heritage for society” in English, Dr. Eleni Nodarou, Director of the Petrography Laboratory, Institute for the Study of the Prehistoric Aegean of Eastern Crete on “Plinths, horns and interdisciplinary approaches to the study of ancient pottery” and Dr. Ioannis Iliopoulos, Professor, Department of Geology, Director of the STM, University of Patras, on “Archaeological artifacts and mineral raw materials: the geoscientific approach”.
A guided tour of the temporary exhibition by its creators will follow.
The event is addressed to students of the Departments of History and Archaeology and Geology, archaeologists, geologists, teachers of all specialties, but also anyone interested.
The Museum is located on the university campus beneath the Park of Peace and behind Foucault's pendulum building.
