Science and Technology Museum, University of Patras Campus, Greece
On Saturday, December 8, 2018, afternoon, in the crowded auditorium of the Science and Technology Museum of the University of Patras (STM), the event "Volunteering, a two-way relationship: STM honors its volunteers and sponsors" was co-organized with great success with the Friends of the Museum Association, in collaboration with the Departments of Cultural Affairs of Primary and Secondary Education of Achaia. The event was attended by individuals and representatives of honored organizations, students, friends of the Museum and many more.
The event began with the Choir of the 50th Primary School of Patras with the musician Nikolaos Katsolis, who gave the event a note of celebration. Afterward, the Director of the STM, Professor Evangelos Vitoratos, the Dean of the School of Sciences, Professor George Papatheodorou and the President of the Friends Association of the STM, Associate Professor of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Eleftheria Pyrgioti, all stressed the importance of volunteers for the Science and Technology Museum. Then a speech was heard by Ms. Christina Bikou, President of The Association for Mental Health Patras, on "Volunteering or Charity?” who spoke from the heart presenting the issue through her volunteer experience in the creation and development of The Association for Mental Health Patras. This was followed by the awarding ceremony of honorary diplomas to all those volunteers, associates, teachers, schools and sponsors, who supported in any way the educational programs, events, newsletter, educational robotics, or the smooth operation of the Museum during the academic year 2017-2018. Diplomas were awarded to 87 individuals, students, scientists, technicians, teachers, schools and sponsors.
The celebration was completed by the Choir of Ovrya High School, which highlighted the festive atmosphere of the event under the direction of musician Katerina Polymenakou. After the event, the public had the opportunity to tour the premises of the STM and see its permanent and periodic exhibitions, followed by a small reception.
