The event entitled "Energy: Is there any hope for the future?" was successfully held at the Science and Technology Museum, on Saturday, March 17, 2018, at 6:30 p.m. The Science and Technology Museum organized the event, in collaboration with the French Institute of Patras, in observance of World Francophonie Day. The aim was to present the Energy-Society relationship in the past and in the present, but also to project thoughts and reflections on its increasing use in the future. After the welcoming  greetings and after the students of the French Institute presented the song ''Ne touche pas à ma planète / Do not touch my planet'' by Dominique Dimey, the speakers of the event spoke:

Kimon Christanis, Professor of the Department of Geology of the UP and President of HSGME (Hellenic Survey of Geology & Mineral Exploration), "The sources of primary energy of humanity".

Abraham Zelilidis,  Professor of the Department of Geology of the UP, "Non-renewable energy sources – do they exist in Greece?".

Christos Kordoulis, Professor of the Department of Chemistry of the UP, "Beyond fossil fuels".

Margarita Karathanasi, President of "Citizens' Inspectorate for Sustainable Development" – CISD, “Yesterday, today, tomorrow: Climate Change, Sustainable Development".

At the end of the speakers’ presentations, there was a concert by the talented guitarist Christos Tsarouchis who closed the event with musical compositions, including French composers. Finally, the participants had the opportunity to tour the Museum in the permanent and temporary exhibition.

The event unfolded and ended successfully, while presenting in detail to the attendees the use of Energy from prehistoric times to the near future.
