The event "Volunteering and Social Contribution: STM honors its volunteers and sponsors" was held with great success on Sunday, December 10, at the packed Auditorium of the Science and Technology Museum of the University of Patras (STM) in collaboration with the Friends Association of the STM.
The event was attended by individuals and representatives of honored organizations, students, friends of the Museum and many people. The event was opened with a greeting by the Director of the STM, Professor Evangelos Vitoratos and the President of the Friends Association of the STM, Associate Professor of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Eleftheria Pyrgioti. Afterward, a speech was given by Alexandros Spyridonidis, Professor of Hematology, Director of the Clinical Program of the Bone Marrow Transplantation and Leukemia Program at Patras University Hospital., founder of the non-profit, non-governmental “Centre to Advance Public Awareness and Recruitment of Bone Marrow Donor Volunteers University of Patras (CBMDP)” and Liga Maria, Hematologist, Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at Patras University Hospital on "Science and Technology Museum, Volunteers and Society: a two-way relationship".
Following was the awarding of honorary diplomas to all those volunteers and sponsors, whose contribution supported the smooth operation of the Museum during the academic year 2016-2017.
The event ended with a concert by the excellent Children's Choir Antiho, which gave a very festive atmosphere to the event with the wonderful performance of songs of international repertoire by students. The conductor of the Choir was the inspired musician Melpo Vikatou, while Elena Fedko played the piano.
