Science & Technology Museum, University of Patras Campus, Greece
With the event, "Light and Color in Science and Arts" inaugurated at the Science and Technology Museum (STM), on Saturday, December 12, 2015, at 6:30 p.m. the exhibition "Light and Color in Science and Arts” will take place from (November 23, 2015- February 11, 2016). It was co-organized by the Science and Technology Museum, the Directorate of Secondary Education, the Laboratory Center of Natural Sciences of Achaia and the Association of Visual Arts of Patras, in the framework of the INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF LIGHT 2015 and the EUROPEAN ACADEMIC HERITAGE DAY 2015 with the theme of LIGHT.
The event was attended by many people, including students, teachers, members of volunteer organizations in Patras and members of the University community. The event started with greetings from the Director of STM UP, Professor Evangelos Vitoratos, the Director of Secondary Education Mrs. Eugenia Pierri and the President of the Association of Visual Arts, Mrs. Chrysanthi Vantarakis. Speeches were heard by the professor of the Department of Materials Science Nikolaos Vainos, entitled "Light and Matter: A Technology for men" and by the Lecturer of the Department of Physics, UP, Charis Anastopoulos. "The Anatomy of a Photon".
Afterward, presentations were made by the Associate Professor in Didactics of Visual Arts at the Department of Primary Education, UP, Xenia Arapaki, and the Visual-Educational-Sociologist Anna Pitta, "Light and Color, from El Greco to Emil Nolde", as well as from the Art teacher of Secondary Education-President of the Patras Visual Arts Association, Chrysanthi Vantarakis and the Art teacher of the Secondary Education Aristomeni Hatzipapas "CONTRADICTIONS- Determining the values of the contrasts of light through art".
The event closed with an outstanding show of Multiform Art in collaboration with Musicians, Dancers and Visual Artists. Participants: Percussion, N.Forlida, Dancers C. Vlachaki, N. Argyropoulou (Natalie Argo), I. Kapogiannopoulou. The movement inspired by the five rhythms was with the help of P. Petropoulou. Visual artists C. Vantaraki, N. Hatzipapas.
A small reception followed while the public had the opportunity to tour the premises of the STM and attend its permanent and temporary exhibitions.
