With great success on the evening of Saturday, February 1, 2014, took place at the Science and Technology Museum (STM) of the University of Patras the event entitled: "Volunteering and Personality. STM honors its first Volunteer”.

The event was co-organized by the Science and Technology Museum of the University of Patras and the Friends Association of the STM. The purpose was to honor the first volunteer of the STM, the late Mr. Theodoros Deligiannis as well as the volunteers of the Museum during the academic year 2012-2013. The event was attended by a large number of people, among them were students, teachers, members of the voluntary organization Epsilon of Patras, the Municipality of Patras and members of the University community.

The event began with a speech by Professor Christos Terezis, from the Department of Philosophy and Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Patras. This was followed by the presentation of the late Theodoros Deligiannis’ valuable contribution to the STM by Evangelos Vitoratos, Professor of the Department of Physics of the University of Patras and Director of the STM, Stavros Kotsopoulos, Professor of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the University of Patras and President of the Friends Association of the STM and Ioannis Haritanis former Director of the Electronics Laboratory of the University of Patras. In continuation followed the awarding ceremony of honorary distinctions to the family of the first STM volunteer, Theodoros Deligiannis, and to the volunteers for their valuable contribution to the museum and to the schools for their participation in one or more networks with the STM during the academic year 2012-2013. Also honored were the volunteer students, faculty members, teachers, young scientists and sponsors who contributed to the operation and activities of the Museum.

The event closed with the concert of "A Companhia Artistica" by a group of four graduate soloists led by the excellent pianist Maria Nikolopoulou artistic director of the "Philippos Nakas" Conservatory and Efi Kallistrou on violin, Maria Messari on flute, Ioanna Kazatzidis on cello. Also, two remarkable sopranos with outstanding biographies, Poly Nikolopoulou (soprano) and Georgia Bakogianni (mezzo-soprano) sang. This was followed by a small reception with refreshments and sweets and guided tours at the permanent exhibition of the STM.
