The Science and Technology Museum of the University of Patras in collaboration with the Department of Cultural Affairs of the Directorate of Secondary Education of the Prefecture of Achaia co-organized an event "Presentations of the Secondary Schools Networks centered on the Science and Technology Museum" at 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 12, 2013.
The event took place as part of the European Museum Night Celebration 2013. The European Museum Night was created in 2005 by the French Ministry of Culture and Communication and is now supported by the International Council of Museums (ICOM) and UNESCO. Its goal is to open museums to new audiences.
The Secondary School Networks that collaborated with the STM during the academic school year 2012-2013 are:
- "Art and technology" (3rd Junior High School of Patras, High School of Kastritsi, High School of Lousika, 3rd High School of Patras, General Experimental High School of Patras, Experimental High School of the University of Patras)
- "Volunteering" (3rd High School of Patras, 7th High School of Patras, Model Experimental High School of Patras, High School of Kastritsi)
- "Sciences and Sports" (7th High School of Patras, 9th High School of Patras, 13th High School of Patras, 15th High School of Patras and 16th High School of Patras)
The event started with the "Presentation of the Secondary Schools Networks with the STM UP” by Peny Theologi-Gouti, Architect - Ethnologist, Curator of the STM UP and Maria Nikolopoulou, Musician, Head of the Cultural Education for Secondary Education.
During the event, the school groups presented their work,
- either with presentations in the auditorium: 9th High School of Patras "The tour of Greece with dances and songs", 15th High School of Patras "Bio-motion", 3rd High School of Patras "From the castles and castles cities to the castles of the city", High School of Kastritsi "Cradles of Hellenism: The Greek presence in the wider region of Thrace & the Balkans during the Ottoman Empire & until today: Cultural & social contribution", 16th High School of Patras "Sciences and Sports", 13th High School of Patras "Sports and Sciences", Junior High School of Kastritsi "One machine… a thousand notes!".
- either in the form of an exhibition: 3rd Junior High School of Patras "Painting on silk", 7th High School of Patras "Collage-Decoupage, artistic expression with recycled materials", High School of Music "The game as a means of entertainment, Creation and Learning", 3rd High School of Patras "Architectural peculiarities of the Renaissance" and "Italian Renaissance and Greece-The Light of Apollo", General Experimental High School of Patras "Photo Club", General Experimental High School of Patras "Becoming Volunteers", Experimental High School of the University of Patras "Tracing the top of the Byzantine & Renaissance paintings and Tracing the historical framework & the principles of Byzantine and Rennaissance paintings".
The event ended with a Jazz Concert.
