Science & Technology Museum, University of Patras Campus, Greece
The Conference "Science and Technology Museum: Exhibition of Telecommunications in Our Lives" and Parallel Activities for the Understanding of Telecommunications by the Public was held on May 17, 2010, as one of the accompanying events of the opening of the Museum and in the context of International Museum Day 2010, on "Museums for Social Harmony", World Telecommunication Day 2010 and Museum Night 2010.
Initially, the participants were guided at the STM in groups.
The event was opened by the Rector of the University of Patras Professor S. Koumbias and then greeted by Professor A. Zelilidis, Dean of the School of Natural Sciences of the University of Patras and acting Director of the STM, T. Apostolopoulos, General Secretary of the Region of Western Greece, G. Panagiotopoulos, Regional Director of Primary and Secondary Education, T. Deligiannis, President of the Branch of the Union of Greek Physicists of Achaia, G. Zepatos, President of the Technical Chamber of Greece / Regional Department of Western Greece, and T. Skondras, President of the Greek branch of IEEE.
In continuation speeches were heard by: A. Zelilidis, Professor, Dean of the School of Natural Sciences and acting Director of the STM "Science and Technology Museum - goals and activities for the understanding of Telecommunications by the public through the Exhibition 'Telecommunications in our lives", G. Stavropoulos, Head of the Department of Telecommunications, Telecommunications Region OTE "Telecommunications: From beacons to broadband", M. Karamanou, Deputy Director of Intracom "Telecommunications in our lives", Dr. Christos Raptis, Head of Department of COSMOTE Radio Design & Measurement "Design and implementation of mobile telephony networks - International and Greek Standards for their safe operation", Andrea Andriopoulos, Regional Director of Southern and Western Greece, Vodafone "Utilization of Mobile Environment and Communication".
