A seminar with the theme: "Future Inventors-New Discoveries" was held with great success on Friday, March 2, 2018, at the Science and Technology Museum. The organization of the event was undertaken by the Science & Technology Museum of the University of Patras, the 49th Elementary School of Patras, and the School Counselor of the 6th Region of Primary Education of Achaia, under the auspices of the Regional Directorate of Primary & Secondary Education of Western Greece.
The seminar aimed to promote efficient ways of using the STEAM method in teaching and to enable the cooperation of teachers from different educational environments. Participants in the event were teachers from school units of the 6th Region of Primary Education Achaia, and schools from England, Italy, Poland, Norway, Malta that participate in the Erasmus + program.
At the beginning of the seminar greetings were given by E.Vitoratos, Director of the STM, K.Giannopoulos, Head of the Regional Directorate of Primary and Secondary Education in Western Greece, (PDEDE), T.Baris, Head of the Department of Scientific - Pedagogical Guidance of Primary Education of Western Greece, Panagiotis Karayannis School Adviser of the 6th Region of Achaia, E.Passas the director of Primary Education of Achaia prefecture, D.Sakoulis, Principal of the 49th Elementary School of Patras, Rebecca Bollands Teacher of the Howes Primary School Coordination School, Coventry, U.K. and the keynote speeches were made by S.Christopooulou "Regional Directorate of Primary and Secondary Education of Western Greece -European Projects" and Panagiotis Koustoumpardis, "Educational Robotics Robots@MET".
Following the greetings and introductory speeches, teachers were divided into 3 teams and participated in the innovative STM activities based on the STEAM method: "Educational Program for 5th and 6th grades in the Temporary Exhibition Energy(ies)", "Educational Robotics" and "Understanding Physics Through Art" Experiential Seminar. The training activities were presented by the staff of the STM and teachers of the 49th Public School, as well as by students doing their internship at the STM and voluntary students from different departments of the University. The workshop lasted from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Upon the completion of the workshops, a tour of the Museum site took place.
