Science & Technology Museum, University of Patras Campus, Greece
A great honor for the Science and Technology Museum and for the University of Patras
The Science and Technology Museum was selected by the International Organization International Center for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage-ICCROM, among many nominations from all over the world, among the few Cultural Heritage institutions (Museums, Libraries and Archives) that will participate in the “Our Collections matter”/OCM/“Our Collections Matter” program for 2024-2025.
The OCM is fully aligned with the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations and will support the selected institutions to transform their ideas, ambitions and commitments in the service of sustainable development into certified actions. It provides training, guidance and practical tools for the implementation of each organization’s actions so that they can play their role in highlighting their collections as key factors of sustainable development. The Actions that will be developed will have international visibility and exposure.
In this context, the Curator of the Science and Technology Museum, Mrs. Peny Theologi-Gouti, will participate in a series of webinars that will enable her to learn to use the special ICCROM toolkit, by interacting regularly with the other selected organizations and the executives of the International Organization. Thus far, a series of educational activities and events will be developed that will connect the natural heritage collections (minerals and rocks) with the rest of the STM collections, involving members of the museum’s student volunteer group in their planning and implementation.
ICCROM is an intergovernmental organization working in service to its Member States to promote the conservation of all forms of cultural heritage in every region of the world. It operates in the spirit of the 2001 UNESCO Universal Declaration on Cultural Diversity
