Cultural Network “Science through theater”

The Science and Technology Museum of the University of Patras, the Department of Cultural Affairs of Primary and Secondary Education of Achaia and the Schools of Primary and Secondary Education of Achaia are organizing for the school year 2018-2019, the Thematic Cultural Network “Science through theater”

Objectives of the Network:

1) The popularization of Science and the use of alternative means – the use of the theater for its understanding.

2) The discovery of the deeper relationship and the possibility of ‘cooperation’ between culture and science.

3) The interdisciplinary approach of scientific fields/sectors.

Suggested topics for the network:

Inventors and/or inventions related to the following areas are suggested:

• Electromagnetism
• Optics
• Waves
• Sound and Light
• Communication
• Telecommunications

Participants have the opportunity to choose other relevant areas.

Deliverable: A short play (lasting up to 15') that attributes a concept, a process, an experiment, the life or part of an inventor's life or a combination of the above, etc. from one of the sectors as described above. The deliverable will also be submitted to the Science and Technology Museum and can be used as educational material.

Activities to be included in the network:

• Training Workshop with an experiential seminar for teachers interested in participating in the network, at the STM.
• Participation of student-teachers in at least one of STM's educational activities.
• The final event for the museum day. At the final event, the teams will exhibit and present their works at an open event to be held at the Science and Technology Museum.
