Manual Switchboard

Operated in Patras in the 1930s.

Manual switchboards are telecommunication systems used in public telephone networks or in large enterprises. Female telephone operators usually operated them. They manually connected the telephone lines to place a call.
On public networks, the switchboards were installed in a central office. Each switchboard served a specific geographical area.
