Tribute Event to Antoine de Saint Exupéry

The Tribute to Antoine de Saint Exupéry was held with great success on the evening of Saturday, May 7, 2011, at the Science and Technology Museum of the University of Patras. The event was co-organized by the Science and Technology Museum (STM) of the University of Patras and the French Institute of Patras, in collaboration with the Departments of Cultural Affairs of the Directorates of Primary and Secondary Education of the Prefecture of Achaia. The event was the Main Event of a tribute with more activities.

In the crowded auditorium of the Science and Technology Museum, the tribute event was opened at 7:00 p.m. by the Vice-Rector for Strategic Planning and Research Development of the UP, Professor, D. Kalpaxis. Greetings were addressed by Father N. Skiadaresis, as a representative of His Eminence Bishop of Patras Mr. Chrysostomos, the Director of the STM, UP Professor E. Vitoratos, Mr. N. Delegos, Head of the Department of Scientific-Pedagogical Guidance of Primary Education, as a representative of the Regional Director of Primary and Secondary Education G. Panagiotopoulos, Mrs. D. Georgiadou, Head of the 3rd Office of Secondary Education of the Prefecture of Achaia, as a representative of the Director of Secondary Education of Achaia Mrs. E. Pierri, Mr. C. Marantis, Director of the 4th Office of Primary Education, as a representative of the Director of Primary Education of Achaia Mr. V. Chondrogiannis, and finally Mrs. G. Petropoulou, Director of the French Institute of Patras.

In addition to the above, the event was attended by the Member of Parliament for Achaia of PASOK Mrs. M. Kyriakopoulou, the French Language Advisor of Western Greece Mrs. E. Boukouvala, the French Director of the Vinci Company Mr. Pierre Morand and more than 300 teachers of Primary and Secondary Education, children, parents and other people who wanted to get to know the work of Antoine de Saint Exupéry.

The event included a presentation of his unknown work by Eleni Chantzou-Sangnier, French Teacher of Secondary Education of Achaia, entitled "Antoine de St Exupéry le "Grand Prince", Mrs. Sappho Papa, Notary, Student of the French Institute of Patras-, Scenes from the theatrical performance "The Little Prince… Travels", which was presented at the Lithographic Theater by the Teachers of Primary / Secondary Education of the Prefecture of Achaia "ROGMI " the Theatrical play "The Little Prince" and narrated by members of ROGMI and a group of students of the 20th High School of Patras, in the framework of the Cultural Program "Read, Have Fun, Direct and Play the Little Prince of Saint Exupéry" and in the end was the awarding of the Students of the Prefecture of Achaia for their works related to Antoine de St Exupéry. The event closed with a Reception and Guided Tours for those who wished to see the temporary Exhibition "Antoine de Saint Exupéry 1900-1944" and the permanent Exhibition "Telecommunications in our lives" at the STM.
