Art and Technology

The opening of the exhibition "Art and Technology" took place with great success on Wednesday, November 28, 2012, at the Science and Technology Museum of the University of Patras.

The opening event was co-organized by the Science and Technology Museum of UP, the  Patras Visual Artists Association and the Department of Cultural Affairs of the Directorate of Secondary Education of Achaia Prefecture.

The event was opened by the Dean of the School of Natural Sciences of the UP, Prof. C. Kordoulis and then greeted the Director of the STM of the UP Prof. E. Vitoratos, the Chairman of the Board of the Municipality of Patras K. Bourdoulis, the Director of Secondary Education of Achaia, Dr. E. Pierri and the President of the Union of Patras Artιsts  Mr. C. Koutsoukis, Visual Artist, Teacher. The event was attended by many people, members of the University community, education consultants, teachers, students, and artists.

The event included speeches by the Associate Professor, Department of Architecture of the University of Patras, Ms. Katherine Liapi, "From Art to Technology: The Case of Tensegrity Spatial Structures", Associate Professor, Department of Architecture of the University of Patras, Mr. Panos Kouros "Art-Technology as construction of a public sphere", the Lecturer of the Applied Arts at Hellenic Open University Mrs.Irene Mavromati "The Relationship in Research and the Formation of Anthropocentric Technology" and Aristomenis Hatzipappas, Professor of Fine Arts and Dimitrios Giannakopoulos, Philologists "Art and technology: Tools for sensitizing history in educational practice".

The event ended with guided tours of the temporary and permanent exhibition of the STM and a Concert with the Music Band "BLOWING in the WIND", courtesy of the Philippos Nakas Conservatory.
